A 3D scene for the law of The Two Tongues

Law 8 · The Two Tongues

Two tongues, kept strictly apart.

The Mossy Dekalogue · Law 8 of 14Two tongues, kept strictly apart. Ogham is the elder voice of every stone; the Futhark wakes only when the wolf is summoned.

The tongues are kept apart the way encodings are kept apart: each script its font, each font its people, no bleeding between contexts. Ogham speaks for the garden — ᚋᚑᚄᚄᚔ carved on every icon the fleet has stamped. The Futhark wakes for the wolf's line alone — ᚠᛁᚱᛖᛗᚨᚾᛞᛖᚲᛟ on the forge's signs, and nowhere it isn't earned. When the tongues mix, both speakers are lying.

A tongue borrowed for decoration is a tongue that has forgotten its dead. Speak each where it is owed.

Oghamthe elder tongue — Celtic, the voice of every stone in the garden
Futharkthe wolf's tongue — Norse, woken only where Fenrir's line is spoken of
Fontsself-hosted, one per tongue; the wrong font renders the wrong culture
Disciplinelocale-specific resources never bleed — separation of concern, in the oldest sense
