The census read its gauge: backup state, next scheduled, last successful, last attempted — a whole liturgy of not-dying. The keeper keeps the hearth's afterlife so the house never has to.
Every hall that holds memory must also hold a plan for losing none of it: the Backup Keeper, the hearth's own reliquary. It takes the whole of home-assistant.lan's state — every automation, every entity, every careful name — and seals it into a chest on a schedule. Next backup at the appointed hour; last one verified whole. The keeper does not speak unless a chest fails to seal. That silence, every day, is the rite.
