Zigbee2MQTT

the mesh-weavers — two bridges, two swarms, one stream the hearth reads

Memories from the hearth census · the weaving

one thread per device.

2026-11-02 · the census

The census counted 129 switches, 62 lights, 154 eyes — and every one crosses a bridge; two stand at the wall. The house's mesh is one because the weavers bind it: a whisper network, patient, self-healing, older than wifi and quieter.

The hearth's devices do not each shout to the cloud — they whisper to each other, and the whispers cross a bridge: two bridges, standing apart from the hearth on two stones of their own — Zigbee2MQTT, the mesh-weavers. Every bulb and sensor and switch in the house — the printer outlets, the motion eyes, the fan lights, the nite-lites — speaks Zigbee to its neighbors, and the weavers braid all of it into one stream the hearth can read. When a new device joins, it joins through a bridge's open permit, one thread at a time. The swarms are two; the stream is one.
